Foxes are mammals, they weigh 6.5 to 24 pounds, their average life span in the wild is 2 to 4 years.
They are Omnivores which means they eat plants and animals, the Foxes Sizes: head and body, 18 to 33.75 inches; Tail 12 to 21.75 inches! The fox is known for it's cleverness and adaptability. Foxes are solitary hunters who feed on rodents, rabbits, birds, and other small creatures, but their diet can be as flexible as their home habitat. Foxes will eat frogs, vegetables, fish, fruit, and even worms! If living among humans, foxes will opportunistically dine on garbage and pet food.
Like a cat's, the Fox's tail aids as balance but also can be used for other uses as well. A fox's tail (or "Brush") can be used as a warm cover in cold weather and as a signal flag to communicate with other foxes. Foxes also signal each other by leaving scent posts by marking their place on trees or rocks to announce their presence.
In winter, the foxes meet to mate. The vixen (female) gives birth to a litter of 2 or 12 pups! Foxes are part of the dog family! Which means they are related to wolves, coyotes, dogs, etc.
